I've been touring for what feels like my entire life, but in the last few years we've been doing it less and less.
I've always gotten anxious before leaving, but now it's worse than ever.
What if I lose my voice again? What if my colitis acts up? I don't want to get on a long-ass plane ride. What if nobody comes to the shows?
All that shit piles up in my head until I'm just sitting there, panicking.
So what am I gonna do about it?
I'm gonna go downstairs to my home gym and work my ass off for an hour.
Not because it solves any of those problems.
Because it gets me out of my own head.
I'll relieve some stress, drink a ton of water, and hopefully tire myself out enough to sleep on the flight. By the time I land, I'll probably wonder why I spent so much energy worrying in the first place.
I know once I'm there I'll be laughing with my buddies and having a blast playing shows.
It's just getting there that's hard.
Sometimes the best thing you can do isn't solve the problem.
It's move your body until your brain calms the fuck down.
If training is one of the things that keeps you grounded too, come join the No Spotter Collective. Three workouts a week, a great community, and one less thing to think about when life gets chaotic.
See you from Europe.
